Stepping Into Alumni Launched

Last week we were delighted to celebrate the launch of Alumni Connect, Australia’s first alumni network for talented graduates with disability. The network connects over 2200 alumni who have taken part in our award-winning Stepping Into Internship Program (SIP) over the past 18 years, with employers who want to broaden their recruitment pool.

SIP began in 2005 with 7 students and organisations and has grown to encompass 229 organisations and 2248 students.

More the 150 employers and graduates attended our launch event, kindly hosted by IAG. There was a wonderful buzz in the room as guests spent the evening sharing stories and making valuable connections.

AlumniConnect gives our SIP graduates further opportunities to attend career development events and network.

We would like to thank Alumni Connect’s founding partners Acciona, CBA, Deloitte, IAG, QBE and Life Without Barriers for making this ground-breaking initiative possible.

If you’re an employer and want to get involved in Alumni Connect, register your interest.

Host an intern with disability

It’s time to register your interest in participating in our Stepping Into Internship Program and hosting an intern over the Summer. We recruit suitable university students and recent graduates with disability to the roles provided by our member organisation’s who are building their disability confidence and looking to provide a paid internship.

As one of our most successful initiatives, the Stepping Into Internship Program gives you access to an amazing talent pool of applicants and the opportunity to improve your disability confidence.

If you are interested in participating in the program over the Summer, contact Rudy via email at Rudy.Haruta@and.org.au

Improve boardroom diversity

Is your organisation looking to demonstrate leadership in disability inclusion? Then why not start at the top?  The Directing Change Mentoring Program has been developed by the Australian Network on Disability to address the under representation of people with disability in Australian boardrooms.

Launched earlier this year with its first intake, the program is designed for board members/C-suite executives to mentor leaders with disability, meeting monthly over an 8-month period. A second intake is now available, with the program commencing in September 2023.

Applications close 23 July 2023.
